I am enthralled and completely caught up in this book called ‘I’m Mad As Hell And I’m Not Going To Eat It Anymore!’ by Christina Pirello. This book is absolutely amazing and so informative, I could probably write a blog about every page! A section that stood out to me immediately was the section on Soda…I have always loved soda(Dr. Pepper, baby!) and I never really thought twice about drinking it. A few years back I gave it up because of the high sugar content that I knew was contributing to my ever-changing waistline. I slipped up more than once over the years and enjoyed a soda here and there. I knew it wasn’t the best thing in the world to indulge on but after I read this section on soda I am so very convinced and sure that I will NEVER have another soda as long as I live. I am going to point out a few of the points that swayed me…So DID YOU KNOW THAT…
–Most soft drinks contain phosphoric acid(a very powerful chemical that enhances the absorption of carbon dioxide.), caffeine, sugar or artificial sweeteners and/or high-fructose corn syrup, caramel coloring, carbon dioxide(Yep, that’s right!!), and aluminum.
–State highway patrols carry two gallons of cola in their trunks to remove bloodstains from the roadway after an accident.
–If you were to soak a steak in a bowl of cola this will result in its total disintegration in just two days.
–If you were to pour a can of cola into a toilet bowl and let it stand for one hour and then flush it, it will reveal a sparkling clean bowl.
–You can remove rust from car bumpers by rubbing them with crumpled up aluminum foil dipped in cola.
–Car battery terminals can be cleaned of corrosion by pouring a can of cola over them.
–You can loosen a rusted-tight bolt by holding a cloth soaked in cola on the bolt for a few minutes.
–You can remove grease stains from clothes by adding a can of cola to a load of greasy laundry with your detergent.
–Cola can clean road haze from your windshield
–Because the active ingredient in most colas in phosphoric acid, its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Four days!!!
–Soda distributors of cola have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for the last twenty years.
Now knowing just that, does soda still sound like a good idea?
